I am not sure if they have a pump out or what, but the international space station is having a lot of trouble with their flooding toilet, which cost several million dollars more than my excellent £70 Porta Potti. I got rid of the pump out system years ago because they always stink in the end. An electric composting toilet might be the ultimate way to go, but for about £1000 you get a lot more to go wrong. A while back the space station was in serious trouble because they could not charge their batteries, and ended up having to replace them for $145 million, using a hammer and chisel. This got me thinking; narrow boats and space stations are pretty similar, with similar equipment, and the owners almost always get ripped off. The space station has even had steering problems in the past. Apart from both relying on batteries and portable toilets and pumps which often go wrong, both narrow boats and space stations can claim to be continuous cruisers; after all that's the only way to avoid having to pay the earth for moorings and orbiting fees.
