These pictures are for anyone who complains that this blog over romanticize's floating in the city.
This happened to a neighbor last year, but thankfully both the boat and owner are happily floating again, but it was very traumatic, even though the imac which was switched on when the boat sank, survived.
How do you raise a sunken narrow boat? The Fire Brigade had a go but just a pump on it's own was not enough as the water came back in as fast as it went out. The boards in the picture above just did not work. Walls of sandbags had to be built around the bits of underwater boat, but that was not enough until some tarpaulin was draped over the sandbag wall and down the side of the boat. Finally the pump was worth using, and after a while the boat started to float again.
